I’ve been on the edge before You know I really tried it Nothing I was looking for Left me absolutely blinded I can feel it See it on the other side I know what you’re looking for Reasons why I try to hide I gotta climb to love, iIf I wanna fall Now I see another light Never seen this kind before Always seems to burn so bright Always seems to warm my world Now I feel it Now I’m gonna let it be Hung dry and left there naked This fear has got the best of me I gotta climb to love If I wanna fall And I’ve worn every scar From my past of ambition Every chance that I take There’s always something missing With each love that’s lost I’ve got my fingers crossed With nothing else to give I gotta climb to love If wanna fall

Childhood 02:57
These long, effortless days Have been quite the dream You loll You lay You’re unlearned Take that veil off your eyes Tend to your son Hear his cries Wake up young boy It’s time to be a man When that drummer starts beatin’ It’s your time to see the world As it comes, as it circles As your mind unfurls Life is a goldmine Don’t worry about that coal Your stay has been pleasant But your nest is getting old Wake up young boy It’s time to be a man Your eyes once squinted From peeking out the door Now reach out your good luck hand Pull your ship away from shore I see your legs are spinning But you’re still sitting You’re still static Soon we all aspire to something So don’t you panic Wake up young boy It’s time to be a man

Brightside 03:54
I’ve been down for so damn long Now it’s too hard to get back up I don’t want you thinking I’m not trying On this road too long to give it up Given the right way, I choose the wrong Given the short way, I always choose the long Given the bad way, You know I wanna take that one But I keep on moving on, I keep on moving on It’s alright to look on the brightside—you’re telling me I’ve waited so long to look on the brightside Now I can see Felt that light come through the cracks As it stung me in my eyes I keep on feeling too damn tired But waited so damn long for this advice Given the right way, I choose the wrong Given the short way, I always choose the long Given the bad way, you know I wanna take that one But I keep on moving on, l keep on moving on It’s alright to look on the brightside—you’re telling me I’ve waited so long to look on the brightside Now I can see

I’m looking for Miss Justrite One that’d make me feel good And she’d do all that she should I’m looking for Miss Justrite When she comes around She won’t bring me down I’m tired of Miss Bring-Me-Down Baby, go ahead and leave town Go away Miss Bring-Me-Down You turn me into a Mr. Clown You can always find my frown Go away Miss Bring-Me-Down I’ve become Mr. Open-Eyes Mr. No-Need-For-Disguise Mr. Love-You-Can’t-Buy You can call me Mr. Open-Eyes Mr. Don’t-Tell-Me-Lies I'm looking for Miss Justrite I’ll find Miss Justrite Miss Love-Me-Deep-In-The-Night Miss Future-So-Bright Yes, I’ll find Miss Justrite Miss Kiss-And-Hold-Me-Tight But I'll call her Miss Appetite

Don't Go 03:50
Pick up what you can fit into your hand And take with you everywhere that you go Remember what you can understand And take with you everywhere that you go Lessons learned and lessons taught Wages earned and battles fought People come and people go How many of them do you know? Don't look back it's coming fast We're already at tomorrow There's only one thing I have to say to you Don't go Take me away across the sea Where everything is one and all is free Let sorrow chase me down the stream The ones who haven't seen it Have yet to dream Disappear into the dark Have no fear to leave a mark We'll lay in the sand and stare at the sky Watching the clouds floating by Take me away into the night Where it's hard to see and wonder why There's only one thing I have to say to you Don't go
6.
You won’t believe what you’re meant to be when you lie to yourself Suitcases full of dreams Don’t waste them on routine Take the time off the shelf As you gather up your crumbs your pride is feeling numb You know you lose and learn Don’t blame another soul for the happiness they stole because you’re feeling more and more like a bird in an airport who never sang his song Sweet melody of the brave Like a bird in an airport Who knows how long he can go until he finds his way? Take another flight with books to read or write on your own time Open up those wings Trade the winds of spring for your own kite Lay over where you like just south of winter’s sight You know you’re living more Grab another coat and those poems that you wrote too important to ignore Like a bird in an airport who never sang his song Sweet melody of the brave Like a bird in an airport Who knows how long he can go until he finds his way?

While sitting at the station Waiting to wander a little more I wonder how she’s doing Over on her shining, golden shore Her name comes up often We all know where she resides She’s getting too greedy Her flag has too much pride As I sit here across the sea Living the dream In the middle of Italy I can’t help but see her As the Holy Roman Empire She too must fall From her weathered high-wire Her beauty speaks volumes She’s got mountains, Deserts, two oceans But she speaks too loudly And causes too much commotion Her first dream was so perfect To preserve the blessings of liberty Now her eyes glow with money She's got no regard For you or for me Soon Christmas will pass She’ll give another false resolution She only gets fatter Wading in pollution As I sit here across the sea I'm scheming up How I can be free Her sad, sad story Only ends one way If you don’t know her name It’s Government U.S. of A.

See these eyes; they can see everything, what you wanna be when you start to breathe See these ears; they can hear every word, every noise that’s absurd, every little verb that we learn See this mouth; it can speak out every truth Forget the lies of youth You don’t have to live confused But if you try so hard not to listen to every word that you hear every day pretty soon you’re gonna find what you’re missing, so you better listen before you fade away See this heart; it can bleed with every choice It can fill every void It can start to beat when we rejoice See this mind; it can think for itself, whether it thinks of itself too well, only a little time can tell See this beauty; you can see it everywhere You can choose to stop and stare or you can learn to share But if you try so hard not to listen to every word that you hear every day,. pretty soon you’re gonna find what you’re missing, so you better listen before you fade away

Gains 02:38
He’s got a cover to hide his eyes He's got plugs to close his ears He takes a pill so he can dream And a pill so he always feels the same But he doesn’t know the Truth He won’t see any gains He’s got a voice But it never says his thoughts He’s got anger to keep them away He looks down; he never has to wonder And a pill so time will fade But he doesn’t know the Truth He’ll never see any gains Today he peeked away from the floor And he saw a little Truth Then he listened to whispers And he heard a little Truth He’s gonna walk a while He’ll never be the same

I woke up this morning and all I could see were smiles I went on that back porch and played there for awhile I wake up every morning and all I can see are smiles I woke up this morning and all I could hear was music I went on that back porch and damn right darn abused it I wake up every morning and all I can hear is music Let’s do a little porch stompin' now I'm stompin' on that porch a thousand times an hour Let’s do a little porch stompin' now I laid down last night, felt worn out and used So I went on that back porch and played a good ol' blues I laid down last night, I felt worn out and used I laid down last night and put on my favorite song So I went on that back porch and played it all night long I laid down last night and put on my favorite song Let’s do a little porch stompin' now Well I'm stompin' on that porch a thousand times an hour Let’s do a little porch stompin' now Show me the next stop

She's the one, born to live it up Make you smile until you never stop She’s makin' sure you all have fun Whether you dance the night away Or swimming in the sun She's got a laugh that makes you wanna laugh She's got a dance that makes you wanna dance She's got a heart that makes you wanna love She's got that mind that makes you wanna take a chance Oh, You know just how she feels When she’s angry And never sees what’s real But she gives me love She tells me everything's alright And when I'm lonely She reminds me I'm not the only And doesn't just tell me, she shows me That she loves me everyday of my life She brings me up When I'm feeling down Makes me stop When I've got that frown She’s making sure I've always got that smile on Whether I'm down another day or, “Living in denial, Son” She's got a laugh that makes you wanna laugh She's got a dance that makes you wanna dance She's got a heart that makes you wanna love She's got that mind that makes you wanna take a chance Oh, You know just how she feels When she’s angry And never sees what’s real But she gives me love, she tells me everything's alright

Your love was waiting at this window Did you see him go? He liked to watch the cats play In the garden down below. He tried to name the flowers you planted. He called them, "the red one," or the "blue one", To him it's all the same. Don't you know? Did you see him go? He talked of old places And old people he used to know, All so dear to his heart, And the tears would flow. Did you see him go? He tried to stay here, But he just had to go. You turned for just a minute, But you were too slow. Did you see him go?

about

Future Facing

The sand-filled wind ensemble spins
Along at our feet
And massages our backs.
On the shore, well behind us,
There’s a murmur of the sea hammering.

If we turn around to dwell on nostalgia,
The sand flute spits in our eyes and,
To make amends, sings sweetly,
“Don’t mind the past. Just keep moving forward.”
So we stay future facing.

Time, you are a seashore wind,
Crooning Yesterday against our backs,
Guiding us to a grateful tomorrow
